Dental Hygiene Treatment in Wilmslow. We focus on Hygiene, Screenings, Whitening, & Composite Bonding.

Guided Biofilm Therapy

The bacteria in plaque (oral biofilm) damage the teeth and their supporting structures such as the gums and bone that hold the teeth in place. Biofilm also triggers bad breath, tooth loss and implant loss.

These bacteria also find their way deeper into the body and may cause serious diseases over time. Studies have shown that oral biofilm increases the risk of diabetes, cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer’s as well as other often life-threatening diseases.

Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) combines professional tooth cleaning with an effective home care regime to keep harmful biofilm under control.

It has been scientifically proven that the regular and complete removal of biofilm results in healthier teeth and gums.

GBT uses innovative technology ensuring treatment is painless with no damage to the teeth or gums. While helping keep your mouth healthy it also supports your overall health.

GBT is the result of years of clinical research by Switzerland’s Electro Medical Systems (EMS) conducted in conjunction with leading experts.

Health Screening

Your health matters! You can look great, feel great and exercise regularly, but are you really aware of what is going on in your body?

Our health screening service is a simple and convenient way to know your baseline health numbers; Blood Pressure, Glucose Levels, Total Cholesterol, BMI and Height to Weight Ratio.

Poor oral health especially gum disease is linked to higher cholesterol, poor blood sugar control for people with diabetes and a higher risk of cardiovascular disease.

By knowing and understanding your health numbers and combining this with a tailored oral health care programme you can rest assured you are on your way to a healthier you.

Health screening is a great way for you to understand more about your general health, and even more so the link between your oral heath and general health. We therefore want to be able to offer this added service when you come along for your dental hygiene visit.

Numerous studies have demonstrated a link between poor oral health and systemic disease such as heart disease, diabetes, stroke, dementia, rheumatoid arthritis, and even pregnancy complications.

Types of Screening include; Lipid Cholesterol, Glucose levels, Blood Pressure and BMI.

Oral Cancer Screening

There are around 12,400 new head and neck cancer cases in the UK every year (34 every day), with around 4,100 head and neck cancer deaths every year (11 a day).

Head and neck cancer is the 8th most common cancer in the UK accounting or 3% of new cancer cases with the most common location being the tongue. With these rates increasing over the past decade, it is ever more important to get regular checks.

Early detection of head and neck cancers by a dental professional can not only achieve better outcomes but can be lifesaving too.

Identify Dental Caries & Tooth Wear

When bacterial plaque is left to feed on the foods you eat it can utilise the sugars creating an acidic environment in the mouth. These acids destroy tooth enamel.

Identifying where these problem sites are, learning how to keep them free from bacterial stagnation and knowing which products to use will help prevent, control and arrest caries.

Tooth wear is the excessive loss of tooth surface in the absence of plaque. Usually a combination of attrition, abrasion and erosion. Most people think your teeth wear with age however, it can also occur if you grind/clench your teeth, brush too hard, consume sugary or acidic food or drinks regularly, have a gastric reflux or have abnormal tooth structure. This can leave the teeth feeling hypersensitive and teeth may appear discoloured.

Understanding the cause will help you determine the treatment you need.
